Abstract

This article explores non-governmental solutions to the security crisis in Pakistan in the light of the Prophet Muhammad's (ﷺ) life during the Makkan period. A crisis refers to a situation where individuals or societies face severe threats, which can be economic, political, or social. The Prophet's teachings provide guidance on navigating crises, emphasizing that trials are an inherent part of human life. The current state of Pakistan involves various crises, including political instability, economic weakness, and deteriorating security, leading to further socio-economic issues. The establishment of peace is fundamental, as demonstrated by the prayer of Prophet Ibrahim (علیہ السلام) for the sanctity of Makkah. The article discusses the inadequacy of state mechanisms to maintain order and explores how communities can independently work towards peace, especially when state power is either lacking or ineffective. The focus is on the historical initiatives like the "Hilf al-Fudul," a covenant formed in Makkah to support the oppressed, which exemplifies community-driven peace efforts. This examination aims to highlight methods for establishing peace based on the Prophet’s teachings and historical practices.
