Since the beginnig of life on, Allah has created man and woman to fullfil each other' needs. He provided them with sustenance for their basic requirements. These requirments are the same for both of them. Just as a man needs to eat, drink,wear clothes and have a place to live,so does a woman.Among these rights to living is the right of inheritance.Every religion of every era has granted this privilege to man but Islam is the one and only religion that has accorded women an equal status. Allah established the right of inheritance for women in every circumstances, let her be a mother, a sister or a daughter. However, does this society of ours comply with this obligation? does a mother in our society receive her share of inheritance? does a brother give his sister her share? Does a husband reserve a portion of his property for his wife or does he deprive her of her right? Ifthe wife is deprived, on what grounds does this happen?
