Abstract

Dr. Muhammad Iqbal was a legendary personality of British India before the freedom era. No doubt that his epistemology is based on the Quranic epistemology. His interaction with the West made his vision clear towards the solution of the problems of Muslims. His approach towards educational concepts is synthetic. According to him, knowledge can be acquired by senses but its peak in broader sense can be achieved only by religious experience, intuition and prophetic revelation. Self can be strengthened by the force of love. Western education is not enough to fulfil our national needs. He challenges the sole authority of the reason and expresses that absolute authority of reason is leading straight towards atheism and anarchy. Reason is like a tool or torch which may lead to a destination but itself it is not a destination. His role as a reformer created a new sense of renaissance in the Muslims of India. In this article, some of his distinguished concepts about education, reasons and knowledge are being discussed.
