There are several authors of Urdu literature who have devoted much of their time and effort to ensuring that Urdu literature is widely read and who have attained a reputation for their excellent poetry and prose. While some focused on a specific genre to create works of art in their own disciplines, some were all-around artists. Mirza Jamil Uddin Aali, one of the writers in Urdu literature, not only made a name for himself in prose and poetry but also got involved in journalism. In addition to his outstanding poetry and prose, Aali is renowned for his intense interest in Doha, which he further developed and propagated as a significant and well-known subgenre of Urdu poetry. It is certain that neither a renowned Doha author nor Doha as a speech genre had ever existed before him. Only Aali deserves credit for introducing it to the general public in new colour and harmony. He gave it such consistency as a form of expression that it is now a well-liked component of Urdu poetry. The atmosphere that Doha is linked with and that his name is attributed to in Doha brings out the essence of his personality.
